Red Paper Plane is designed to be a low-cost, quick-turn, DIY platform. As such, our margins are low so we cannot offer wholesale pricing. So, how can you make money for products ordered through Red Paper Plane?
We work with a lot of designers, printers, promotional agencies and brokers, and their approach for our Red Paper Plane offering has been one of two directions:
- Refer your client directly to the site. You don’t make any money [directly] that way, but you do garner the goodwill of the client, who appreciates the referral, enhancing client loyalty for what they normally buy from you.
- Alternatively, manage the process on the client’s behalf, and since pricing is published and the client might find the costs on their own, charge a transparent fee/percentage for your handling template download, design, art placement, art upload, carrying costs of the purchase, and generally managing everything on their behalf. You would detemine what that fee is and charge either a flat handling fee to them or a percentage markup on the order value.
